ST. LOUIS (Reuters) – U.S. adventurer Steve Fossett captured one of manned flight’s last earthly records, becoming the first person to make a nonstop, solo balloon flight around the globe, his ground team said on Tuesday. The 58-year-old millionaire crossed the finish line in his 13th day aloft when he passed 117 degrees east longitude off Australia’s southern coast, the same line where he began the quest when his hot air and helium balloon lifted off from that continent.
