Andrew Weiss uncovered a cassette of our high-school band, Method Eleven, playing on July 4th, 1988 in the football field at Deerfield High School. Andrew, the band’s drummer, mailed the tape to me so I could put the audio onto a compact disc for him. Once I had the music in digital format, I naturally sent the file to our other two bandmates: Peter Leech (singer / bassist) and Greg Chun (keyboards).
All these years on, we found our performance mostly horrifying, but it did bring back some great memories. Peter suggested that the band reunite for a Zoom chat this past weekend, which ended up being a great time.
It was cool to catch up with the guys. I’ve keep in touch with Andrew, and more recently Greg, but hadn’t talked to Pete in probably 30 years.
Andrew lives in Urbana, IL with his wife and son, and works for the park district there. Pete works in e-commerce, and lives with his family in Lake Forest. Greg also has a family, and is out in Los Angeles working as a voice-over artist and commercial composer. The regular reader of this blog will note that Greg is co-producing the audiobook version of my “Time is a Fine White Lie” book.
