The Golden Art of Rafael Araujo

I follow a good deal of nature and math hashtags on Twitter and Instagram (e.g. #GoldenRatio, #SacredGeometry.) Just the other day I saw an amazing image from the Venezuelan painter Rafael Araujo (@rafaela31416). As I’ve mentioned from time to time, nature frequently uses the same proportions throughout the universe, and I choose to express these ratios in musical time and pitch. Rafael expresses the very same ratios in his drawings and paintings, interpreting the numbers in wonderful and beautiful ways.

I’ve reached out to Rafael and he’s agreed to let me use his artwork for my Reality Jockey album cover. Since there are two songs on my album that use the Golden Ratio as their musical foundation, I find it very fitting that the same ratios are at work in the visuals on the record jacket. (And of course, it’s gorgeous.)
